C1. Scope and priority
A consumer is a natural person entering the contract for purposes predominantly outside their commercial or self-employed professional activity. An employed academic buying personally can be a consumer even where the purchase relates to their employment. An Organization is a workspace, not proof of an institutional buyer. When a consumer buys in their own name, that person is the Customer; using a personal payment card for an institution does not change the institution into a consumer.
For consumers this supplement overrides Terms 1.3, 3.1, 3.2, 5, 8.5, 8.6(a), 8.8 to 8.12, 15.3, 15.4, 17 and 19 to the extent set out below. A consumer accepts for themselves; an Organization role alone does not authorize acceptance for a different person. Checkout identifies personal buyers separately from authorized institutional representatives; payment-card ownership alone does not decide the buyer. Direct Sales are not offered to consumers. An academic Organization may buy through Paddle using its private-person Billing Profile.
C2. Price, validity and access
The purchase summary shows the total EUR price including applicable VAT, the pack size, a usage example, the activation date and the actual expiry date before the order is placed. No internal provider-cost amount is part of this disclosure.
A consumer Top-up can be used until 31 December of the third year after its purchase year. For example, a purchase in 2026 expires on 31 December 2029. Its expiry and purchase-day usage rates do not change if the Organization later changes its plan or Billing Profile.
If the license ends for any reason other than the consumer's breach, the consumer retains the access necessary to spend the remaining Top-up until expiry. Terms 8.1 and 8.10(b) do not remove this entitlement. If Puraite discontinues the Service or cannot provide that use, statutory remedies and any applicable refund remain available. A breach does not automatically forfeit the balance; Terms 8.10(d) and mandatory law govern any deduction.
The rate lock, spending order, reminders 60 and 30 days before expiry, and deduction of the unused share from a new pack bought in the last 30 days otherwise remain as in Terms 8. No clause excludes mandatory rights if the expiry provision is invalid.
C3. Withdrawal and activation
The withdrawal period is 14 days. Without a separate early-start request, the purchased Top-up becomes usable only after that period and confirmation of payment. The order summary states the actual activation date. Requesting early performance does not itself waive the right to withdraw.
With a valid early-start request and the required information, compensation on withdrawal is calculated as: price actually paid multiplied by the fraction of the purchased pack already used, with the remaining price refunded. Example: EUR 120 paid, 25% used, compensation EUR 30 and refund EUR 90. The deduction applies only where the legal conditions and Paddle's supported refund treatment permit it; otherwise no deduction is made. A full withdrawal/termination removes the remaining pack. A refund for specified unused usage removes only that usage. Price corrections, price reductions and goodwill compensation do not automatically remove unrelated usage (Terms 8.12).
Mandatory rights, including a longer withdrawal period caused by defective information and remedies for non-performance, remain unaffected. Paddle's refund processing limits do not shorten them.
C4. Withdrawal notice
For purchases through Paddle, the seller is the Paddle entity identified in checkout and on your receipt. Paddle's buyer terms identify Paddle.com Inc. for US buyers, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. for Canadian buyers, and Paddle.com Market Limited for buyers elsewhere. Their addresses are listed in the Paddle buyer terms.
Send withdrawal notices for a Paddle purchase through the withdrawal or support route in Paddle's customer portal, also accessible from your transaction email. For a separate service contract with Puraite, contact Puraite GmbH, c/o Founders Foundation, Obernstraße 50, 33602 Bielefeld, Germany, at support@puraite.com. That address also provides help with Paddle purchases; it is not represented as an authorized notice recipient for Paddle.
You may withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving a reason. The period starts on conclusion of the contract, subject to the legally required information. To withdraw, send a clear statement before the deadline to the relevant seller using the routes above. You may use the form below, but it is optional. For eligible Paddle transactions, the online withdrawal function is available through Paddle's customer portal.
Following withdrawal, payments are returned without undue delay and within 14 days after receipt of the notice, using the original payment method unless another method is agreed without a charge. If you validly requested early performance, compensation may be deducted only as explained above and permitted by law.
C5. Optional withdrawal form
To: the Paddle seller identified on your receipt, using the Paddle route above; or, for a separate Puraite service contract, Puraite GmbH at the postal or email address above.
I/we withdraw from the contract for: [service or Top-up and transaction reference].
Ordered on: [date]. Consumer name(s): [name]. Consumer address: [address].
Date: [date]. Signature(s), only if sent on paper: [signature].
Delete whichever of “I/we” does not apply. This form is optional.
C6. Early-start request
Unchecked and optional, separate from accepting terms:
“I request that performance of my Top-up starts before the 14-day withdrawal period ends. I understand that, if I withdraw after performance starts, I may have to pay for the part already provided, as explained in the withdrawal notice.”
An early-start request does not itself waive the right to withdraw.
C7. Remaining consumer protections
The extra amount cap in Terms 15.3 and the free-access exclusion in 15.4 do not apply to consumers.
Silence or continued use is not acceptance of changed terms by a consumer. Changes requiring consent take effect only after express consent; the Subscription supplement governs paid-plan renewals. Mandatory digital-service modification and remedy rules remain unaffected.
German law applies without depriving a consumer of mandatory protection under the law that would otherwise apply in their country of habitual residence. The exclusive Bielefeld jurisdiction clause does not apply to consumers. Mandatory jurisdiction rules remain unaffected.
